Dr Nazmeen Shameem

Dr Nazmeen Shameem is a Specialist Pain Medicine Physician and Rehabilitation Medicine Physician at Harmony Specialist Healthcare. Her dual-specialty perspective supports a connected assessment of pain, function, disability and rehabilitation goals.

Her experience includes chronic non-cancer and cancer pain, rehabilitation following significant illness or injury, and multidisciplinary care using both pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches. Training across Royal North Shore, St Vincent’s, Prince of Wales, Concord and Nepean hospitals has given her broad experience with complex pain and rehabilitation presentations. Earlier work in radiation oncology, cancer care and palliative care further informs her understanding of medically complex situations.

Dr Shameem has more than a decade of teaching experience and has contributed to research and quality-improvement work in exercise during cancer treatment, rehabilitation for older people and the early identification of rehabilitation needs. At Harmony, her recommendations are tailored to the person and can be coordinated with psychology, exercise physiology and external treating practitioners where useful and with consent.
