What to know before you begin.
How is the right assessment pathway chosen?
The initial consultation considers the current questions, relevant history, previous reports and the purpose of assessment. Your clinician will then explain which pathway, if any, is appropriate before further appointments are confirmed.
What happens at the initial consultation?
You will have time to discuss the concerns, goals and relevant background. The clinician will clarify the likely assessment scope, information required, appointment commitment and fees before you decide whether to proceed.
What does the typical fee include?
The typical total fee shown for each pathway covers the assessment activities described on that pathway page, including relevant interviews, testing or questionnaires, scoring and interpretation, a written report and feedback. The exact assessment battery and fee are confirmed at intake.
What if WISC, WAIS or WIAT testing was recently completed?
The same WISC, WAIS or WIAT assessment cannot be administered again within six months of its completion date. Please share previous reports at intake so the clinician can determine what can be used, what may need updating and the most appropriate next step.
Does an assessment guarantee a diagnosis, funding or accommodations?
No. An assessment does not guarantee a diagnosis, funding, NDIS access, medication, school support, workplace accommodations or any particular outcome. Recommendations are based on the information available and the individual findings.
Can a health professional make a referral?
Yes. Health professionals can refer directly through Harmony’s referral form. Families and individuals may also enquire with Harmony, and schools can contribute relevant observations and previous reports with appropriate consent.
